Cricket is Here and We ♥ It!

Cricket is here from Anzula!

The blend of Merino/Cashmere/Nylon gives this hand-dyed DK beauty the softest, plushest feel and the enchanting color palette makes colorwork a great choice.

We fell in love with this sproingy soft DK weight yarn from Anzula after seeing Olgajazzy's Fractals hat pattern.

We have always loved the insane brights from Anzula. Olga uses them to their magical max by mixing these neon shades with delicate neutrals in this new hat pattern!

We ♥ this soft yarn so hard.

Meet Florence & Buckhorn, Our Two Newest Patterns!

Two new Fancy Tiger Crafts patterns are here for our Heirloom Romney yarn!

Our new Buckhorn Cap is a rugged colorwork beanie, warm and woolly enough for any mountain man or explorer.

This design by Amber Corcoran is worked with two strands of our worsted weight Heirloom held together, for a chunky gauge that knits up super quick on size 11 needles.

It uses one skein each of two colors of Fancy Tiger Crafts Heirloom Romney, about 150 yards of the main color and about 80 yards of contrast color. Our sample above uses hand-dyed colors Fava Bean and Carrot, and the version below uses Elderberry and Tomato.

We tested our Buckhorn Cap for durability on an ice fishing expedition and are happy to say it kept our favorite fisherman alive and quite cozy!

Our newest shawl pattern, the Florence Shawl, was designed by Emily Platzer.

Designed for her grandmother, Florence, this generous shawl measures 84” long by 22” deep. On size 10.5 needles, it knits up in no time.

The elongated triangle shape is large enough to drape over your shoulders, or with a coat it can be worn wrapped like a scarf for extra warmth. The Florence Shawl uses one skein each of two colors of Fancy Tiger Crafts Heirloom Romney. Our sample is shown in colors Nettles and Fava Bean.

We hope you enjoy these new patterns! Follow the links above to instantly download a pdf copy or stop by the store to check these out in print. If you're going to TNNA, be sure to visit us in booth 655 with Elemental Affects yarn see these and samples of all our patterns in person.

The Wharfie Cap Pattern: A Free Spin to Knit Pattern for Handspinners!

A new classic cap is here, designed by Amber! The beginner friendly handspun Wharfie Cap pattern will have you spinning your very own chunky 2-ply yarn to make a warm, woolly cap. (Even if you don't spin your own yarn yet, there is a commercial yarn variation for a knitting-only version!)

This handspun "barberpole" yarn is easy for beginner spinners, who shouldn't be too concerned with a little bit of variation in their yarn thickness. A touch of thick and thin to your handspun will add to the character of this easy-to-knit marled hat.

The unisex Wharfie Cap is a classic that looks great on everyone. Fold up the brim to keep those ears warm while working or playing outdoors on cold windy days, or wear it pulled down for a little more neck protection. This no-nonsense cap is all about function, but not to worry--when you wear it you’ll be lookin’ darn good.

The pattern gives simple instructions for spinning your yarn. Your hat will be one of a kind, and the real fun is in choosing the two colors to ply together for your marled yarn. Neon pink and natural brown? Hot. Charcoal and mint? Very cool.

Download the free Wharfie Cap pattern here. We hope you share your handspun versions with us! We'd love to see them in person or on our Facebook or Ravelry.

Happy spinning!

New! Guillemet Hat Knitting Pattern by Emily!

A new knitting pattern is joining our Fancy troop of patterns! Welcome the Guillemet Hat!

The pattern is named for the French quotation mark << >>, the guillemet. Simple knits and purls create a chevron pattern reminiscent of this handsome punctuation. Emily designed this sweet and slouchy hat for our Heirloom yarn, and it knits up so rustic and beautifully in the chevron stitch pattern.

Emily's Guillemet is knit in the Heirloom colorway, Calendula, a soft golden yellow.

The hat's construction is fun and simple, and can be adapted to any gauge and any size. A unique style of decreases create an awesome circle detail atop.

Katy immediately whipped up her own Guillemet Hat out of Heirloom color Well Water.

If you don't live in town, pick up a skein of Heirloom yarn here.

New Free Pattern! The Ice Skating Cap!

The newest Fancy Tiger Crafts Knitting Pattern is here! And for you, my dears, it's free!

We ♥ Knit Collage Pixie Dust Mini. A handspun chunky yarn with just the right amount of sparkle, it knits up in a pretty special way. We've developed our new Ice Skating Cap as a one skein pattern for this adorable yarn.

The little cap-lette uses just 55 yards of yarn! That means it knits up quick as can be--you can whip one up in about 2 hours and make plenty as gifts for friends in need of a cozy cap this winter!

A special skein of your own chunky handspun would be a great yarn substitute--the Ice Skating Cap makes the most of your yarn when you don’t have much, with short row earflaps to keep ears cozy and simple stitches to showcase pretty yarns!

We hope you enjoy our newest pattern. On Ravelry? We'd love to see what you make! Share your projects with us by linking your project to our Ice Skating Cap pattern on Ravelry.

Happy knitting!

New Minnowknits Yarn by Jil Eaton!

Many customers have asked for easy to care for yarns for kid's knits and we've been on the search for awesome superwash yarns. We are excited to welcome Jil Eaton's Minnowknits Minnow Merino to our line up! Minnow Merino is a beautiful, single-ply worsted yarn with a nice sheen. It comes in a fun bright palette for all your superwash needs. The 50 gram skeins are great for small baby projects so you aren't over-buying yardage.

We rarely see a single-ply superwash wool so we had to put this to the test. We knit up a quick and adorable baby hat using Gudrun Johnston's free pattern, "Little Love Hat" and then threw it in the washing machine and the dryer!

The hat came out of the dryer looking great! We made sure to measure it before and after--it came out perfect. All the stitches have settled into place, but there is no sign of shrinking or pilling. Nice work, Minnow Merino!

The Fibre Co. Yarns are Here and We Can't Stop Touching Them!

Two gorgeous new yarns are here from the Fibre Co!

We couldn't keep our hands off of them and we've already knit up two adorbz samples.

Angelique used Terra to knit up this ittybitty Yoked Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. Terra is a luscious Aran weight yarn in a blend of nubby silk, alpaca and merino. Two red tagua nut buttons finish it up adorably!

Sunne made the Bismark Hat by Kate Gagnon Osborn in Road to China Light, a softer-than-you-could-dream blend of natural fibers. Erikia has perfect pom-pom skills--she made that perfect pom-pom!

Terra

Silky nubs take the dyes differently than the the soft alpaca and wool, which gives this lux yarn a beautiful texture accentuated by the depth and contrast of color.

 Road to China Light
This sport weight yarn is the softest! This alpaca/silk/camel/cashmere blend comes in a stunning array of kettle dyed-beauty. We want to eat it.
