Craft Up A Trend: Stock Show Style

The cowboys are starting to roll into town and Denver is preparing for the 108th annual National Western Stock Show! It's time to find our western spirit and craft up some Stock Show Style.

Stock Show Style

We have collected an array of crafty patterns and supplies that are suited for your all stock show needs. With these we assure you will be the most fashionable attendee at this years stock show!

Rockabilly Soft by Hill Country Weavers is a beautifully constructed cardigan with yoke detailing fit for a cowgirl. Muted colors of Loft make the perfect palette for this sweater. Check out the western-style piping at the shoulders!

Figgy's sewing patterns have us swooning over the adorableness. The Ayashe lays out options and suggestions on how to further customize this gem for your little one. Can you just picture this top with some tiny cowboy boots?!

Obviously we needed to figure out the perfect pattern for Kokkas horse fabric from Japan. The Madeleine is a full skirt that sits at your natural waist and... it has suspenders! The over-sized pockets will be a perfect place to stash treats for your new llama friend!

This rustic Shetland lace from Elemental Affects would be lovely teamed up with Brooklyn Tweed's Frida pattern by Hiroko Fukatsu.  This fringed shawl is sure to keep you warm and stylish while watching all that mutton bustin'.

What about crafty cowboys, you say? Whip up one of these Negroni shirts from our pendleton shirting. You are sure to be the most stylish man in the catch-a-calf contest!

We love chambray, specifically dresses made out of chambray. We have a wide range of colors in stock but of course the standard denim wins for stock show sassiness.

Watch out cowboys! There's a new horse in town and he can't wait to attend this years national stock show. This needlefelted pony will win the hearts of all those in search of their western spirit!

We hope to see you there showing of your new duds!

Jaime's Cardigan of the Month Club!

I'm not sure how, but this is my third knit cardigan in 3 months--cardigan crazy! My new Wispy Cardigan was started way back in 2011 when we first received the amazing rustic Shetland lace yarn from Elemental Affects. This is one of my favorite yarns of all time - US grown and milled, over-dyed natural heather grey, and hardy Shetland wool all in a rustic spun, 2-ply lace yarn. Yumtown.

Despite this cardigan taking 2 years, it really knit up quickly once I gave it my attention. The Wispy pattern is from Hannah Fettig who makes beautiful and classic yet interesting patterns. I loved it. The unique construction has you knit the arms first, side to side and across the back - how fabulous to get the dreaded sleeves out of the way in the beginning!

I made a few modifications to this pattern. First, my gauge was a little off so I just tried it on as I went to make sure it was fitting. The amazingly talented Angelique who works here at Fancy Tiger Crafts made this a while back and suggested that I try a twisted rib stitch instead of regular ribbing at the cuffs, neck and waist. I love the more textual look of this stitch.

This cardigan will be my new go-to cardigan for warmer spring days and cool summer nights - it is light with just the right amount of woolly coverage. It looks great over all of my Wiksten tanks!

Each skein of Shetland Lace comes with 740 yards so I only used one skein for this entire cardigan! I loved working with this yarn so much, I'm already eyeing some Brooklyn Tweed lace shawl patterns for a new project.

Our brand new Anzula Breeze yarn would also make a lovely summer Wispy if you're looking for something a little less woolly for your creation. The silk/linen blend would be perfect for this design.

Fancy Tiger Craft's Heirloom yarn is here!

All of our dreams have come true!! Fancy Tiger Crafts is pleased to announce the launch of our first-ever yarn line. Welcome Heirloom!

You know we are passionate about yarn. We are also passionate about wool, heritage breeds of sheep and supporting U.S. sheep farmers. When Jeane deCoster of Elemental Affects approached us about doing a private label yarn, we were thrilled. Jeane's U.S. grown and milled Shetland yarn has been one of our favorites for years. Jeane has developed a new yarn for us that you are going to love.

Yummy.

Heirloom is a 100% U.S. grown, milled and dyed Romney yarn. Romney is an especially adorable breed of sheep that evolved from medieval longwool sheep. Their wool is lustrous, strong and hardy and garments made from it will look great for years to come.

One characteristic of Romney sheep is adorable-ness.

Fancy Tiger Craft's Heirloom Romney is a worsted weight yarn. The base yarn is a natural light heathered grey which is then over-dyed in small batches by Jeane. All of the colors have amazing depth and you can see the heathered wool in the paler colors. The yarn is sold in awesome 4 oz hanks that give you 200 yards of woolly goodness to work with. One of the most exciting things about developing this yarn with Jeane was choosing the color palette. What happens when Fancy Tiger Crafts gets to pick colors? You get a modern and stunning spectrum of 21 colors. 3 shades of yellow? Check. Hot pink? Check. 2 shades of mysterious almost-black? Check. Not only do we love each and every color, but we can't handle how good they all look together! We also got to name the colors so of course they were named after Heirloom plants such as Mullein, Radish, Golden Beet, Elderberry and Nettles.

The hottest color palette known to yarn

We were able to design the labels and we even labeled all the yarn. Funtimes!

Heirloom looks great, feels great and even smells great. Fancy Tiger Craft's Heirloom is now available at the shop and online here for all of you out-of-towners. We hope you love it as much as we do and we can't wait to see what you make with it!

New US Shetland Rustic Lace Yarn!

Elemental Affects new Rustic Shetland Lace has got everything we love going on.

It is US raised and milled heritage breed fiber from the adorably tiny Shetland sheep. The yarn is crunchy in all the right ways and has a beautiful texture that is unique to small batch yarns.

The yarn is over-dyed, the dye layered on top of the heathered brown-grey of the sheep's natural color which gives it a lovely depth.

Jaime has already cast on for a Wispy Cardi (a popular pattern around here lately), which will only take one skein of the Rustic Lace!
