All our sparkly dreams have come true!! Anzula's newest yarn, Nebula, is a fingering weight sock yarn in hand-dyed merino with nylon sparkle-to-the-max.
For our Nebula color palette we've chosen deep, moody hues. We love the way the flecks of sparkle catch the light and send it twinkling into your eyes. They are sure to create a mystical and mysterious handknit!
We can't wait to see what you conjure with these lovelies!

Magical to the Max: Fibrofibers' Nightfall Worsted is Here!
We picked up the Nightfall Hand-dyed Sock Yarn last fall, and our first shipment sold in just weeks. We are delighted to have it back in stock, as well as the heavier weight Worsted version of this magical ombre beauty.
We've already seen some amazing projects made from this yarn. Jessie Dawson, a customer with very awesome crochet skills, made a neon green crochet doily from Nightfall. Talk about hot.
Cat Stebbins, a Fancy Tiger instructor who works crafty magic with Tunisian crochet, created this beautiful Tunisian cowl for a class.
There are lots of colors of Nightfall in stock right now, but come by soon, as they are sure to find new homes quickly!

FibroFibers Nightfall Sock Yarn: Ombre Goodness!
FibroFiber's Nightfall yarn is here and it's aaaamazing!
Nightfall is a superwash merino sock yarn--each skein is hand-dyed by Jen Hintz of FibroFibers in North Carolina. Jen uses a special process that creates one long gradient of color throughout the skein, beginning with a vibrant color that gradually gradates to a deep almost-black.
We love this ombre yarn and think it is fantastic for stunning shawls! Check out Jen's free Simple Shawl for Fancy Yarns pattern to see how lovely Nightfall works up. We also love the popular Hitchhiker shawl in Nightfall!
This yarn also supports a good cause. A portion of the sales of this yarn from FibroFibers is donated to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association.
Thanks Jen for making such an amazing yarn!

NASA Fiber Technology + Lorna's Laces Sock Yarn = Solemate!
The future is here.
New from Lorna's Laces is Solemate, a superwash wool yarn that includes the NASA fiber Outlast. What is Outlast? We're not sure. It's a top secret "phase change material" and we don't really know how its made, but we do know what it does. Outlast is a temperature regulating fiber used in space clothing so when you are warm the garment will cool you down and when you're cool it will warm you up. Pretty sweet. Also it's super soft. Since Lorna's Laces dyed it you know the colors are amazing!
Perfect for summertime knitting - wool socks in the summer? No problem with Outlast!!

Anzula Squishy is Here!
Was there ever a more aptly named yarn than our newest yarn addition, Squishy? This sproingy soft sock yarn from Anzula is a luxurious blend of merino, cashmere and nylon, the most perfect of blends for special handknit socks.
The semisolid hues that Anzula is known for have a lovely depth of color, and would highlight fancy stitches like cables and lace beautifully. We think the perfect companion to this yarn is the recently published Cookie A book, Knit. Sock. Love.
You could knit the Stalagmite socks in Paradise...
...or the Ducky colorway would be perfect for the Stricken socks.
We're super excited about carrying Anzula yarns and hope you love them as much as we do!

Craft Trade!
We've all been pretty excited about craft trades around here lately. One of our knitting instructors, Sunne, is an amazing sock knitter and color-work knitter. I've knit a few socks on occasion but embarrassingly have not actually made it through a pair of socks. While Sunne is the most prolific knitter we know, she does not sew. Hence, craft trade! Where everyone is satisfied with a magical handcraft item they wouldn't make for themselves.
I'm super excited about my craft trade with Sunne--the beautiful Fair Isle socks she made for me are my first-ever-very-own handknit socks! I chose two colors of soft Malabrigo Sock yarn and she knit them up using the Wallflower pattern by Stephanie Van Der Linden published on Twist Collective.

For Sunne I made a Fancy Pack in a beautiful Nani Iro fabric that she picked out. The Fancy Pack is a sewing pattern I developed when I felt the need for a cute bag to carry things along with me and be totally hands free. Sunne was really excited about her new Fancy Pack. She loves to walk her dog, Roscoe, around the neighborhood and what a perfect little bag for it. She invented a sweet new way to wear the pack--over one shoulder like a sash. Cute!

Hooray for craft trades! Thanks for my super-sweet socks, Sunne! If you'd like to learn to knit socks Sunne will be teaching a socks class this fall for us as well as a lace knitting class.

New! Pico Accuardi Naturally Dyed Sock Yarn!
Pico Accuardi sock yarn is here! This sock yarn is hand-dyed in Portland, Oregon with both natural dyes and low-impact acid dyes for absolutely amazing colorways.

Here are our two current favorites:
Neon Bible (below on right) inspired by and named for the Arcade Fire album of the same name...

...and Stumptown Brown, naturally dyed with delicious Stumptown Coffee. Jaime just began knitting a latte inspired Daybreak with this and some adorably self-striping Zauberball sock yarn. I'll update you with her progress!

Better Know A Crafter: Megan
Megan recently came into Fancy Tiger Crafts and blew our minds with her amazing crocheted handbag. We had never seen anyone crochet with Noro sock yarn and the results were super adorable.
I sew, crochet, knit, collage, basically create clothes and accessories with any material & get inspiration from the movies I watch while completing my project.

2) Tell us about your cute bag.
I crocheted this purse out of Noro Kureyon sock yarn and scraps I had laying around and created the pattern on my own.
3) How did you learn your craft?
My mom taught me to crochet (and sew) when I was five. She's artsy and crafty but denies being any good at her arts.
4) What is your favorite animal?
Rhinoceroses, hippos, elephants and manatees. Big, fat animals.
Thanks Megan! Happy crafting!

More New Books!
We are so excited about tons of new books. Tons! Here is a peak of some of the newest and craftiest and hot-off-the-press craft books.
___
__
This may be the manliest crafting book ever. I mean, there is a chapter titled Axe Craft. Perhaps you'd like to make your lady a log cabin birdhouse with your axe? Or maybe she'd prefer some handcrafted dinnerware hammered from tin cans? No problem.

___
These super cute little books were originally published in Japanese. They were just published for the first time in English. Sweet! Now you can get super hot Japanese craft style without having to learn Japanese!

I love knitting socks from the toe up, but finding cute patterns is not so easy. So, I'm really excited about this Socks From The Toe Up by Wendy Johnson. If I can nerd out for just a bit--I mean this is kind of amazing--this book has awesome instructions with diagrams for five different seamless cast-ons, three types of heels and three stretchy bind-offs for comfy fit. She goes over for knitting socks on double points, on two circulars as well as with the magic loop method. PLUS, there are tons of cute sock patterns. Dang. This book is super sweet.
__
These quilts are adorable. Super adorable. We are in love with the baby bumper embroidered with woodland creatures. There are tons of modern quilt patterns simple enough for a beginner quilter. I kinda want to make myself one in grown-up size.

The sewing patterns in Felt Furnishings are modern and minimal, but oh so warm and cozy. The projects include tons of awesome throw pillows, blankets and lampshades, table linens and house slippers. The sculptural designs really show off the unique properties of working with felt. Wondering where to get felt? We've got loads of pretty colors of felt by the yard in the store and more are arriving this week!

Well, those are some of the tons of new books. But, seriously, we got tons so come in and check out all the excitement.
