Raincoat Stitchin' Challenge Winner!
Crafty momma Carrie and her adorable little Ruby came by the shop yesterday to show off Ruby's fantastic new Little Splashes raincoat. Congratulations to Carrie for winning our stitchin' challenge and being the first to bring in her finished Amy Butler raincoat!

Stitchin' Challenge! Rainy Days and Little Splashes Hooded Raincoats!
We are so excited about Amy Butler's two newest sewing patterns, the Little Splashes Raincoat for girls and the Rainy Days Raincoat for grown-ups. What a perfect way to use all the pretty new laminated fabrics that have been coming out lately.

New Joel Dewberry and Heather Bailey!
We just received a box of Joel Dewberry's new Modern Meadow collection! I can't believe how pretty it is!
We have only yet received half of this amazing collection...we cant wait for what is still to come. Here is a sneak peek:

Also hot off the UPS truck--Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane laminated fabric. Perfect for waterproof table linens, bags, and aprons. Cute!
All this bright, botanically inspired fabric and warm weather is making me hungry for spring gardening! We are happy to have Baker Creek Heirloom seeds for sale in the shop again this year. Come by and pick out your heirloom seeds for growing Emerald Evergreen Tomatoes, orange and yellow Pineapple Tomatoes, Chantenay Red Core Carrots, Red Marconi Peppers, Big Max Pumpkins that can grow over 100 pounds, Chioggia Beets, Di Ferenze Fennel, edible Chrysanthemums and more. Better Know A Crafter: Katrina Marsh Sarlin
Katrina visited us recently from Virginia. She came to our Sewing Help Night and made this adorable tote bag. Nice work Katrina, come back and visit anytime!
Tell us about your tote bag.
It's a simple tote made from fabric and Japanese bag handles from Fancy Tiger. I used a $1 pattern from Joann's. I looked at quite a few and then winged it with the fabric I bought. I used heavy thread for sewing through the laminated fabric in fun colors. I came to the Wednesday night Sewing Help Night to use the sewing machines as I am traveling.
How did you learn to sew?
When I was a little girl, my father's mom sewed--actually both of my grandmothers did. They made whatever they needed. My father's mom used to make us bookbags and silky pillowcases.
