My most recent Painted Portrait is done up in a Nani Iro double gauze. This soft print is classic Nani Iro style and makes a great top.
This Painted Portrait features a contrast bodice of Anna Maria Horner's Crossing Paths fabric paired with a deep indigo voile. My dream is to one day embroider over the stitch design of the bodice fabric with bright pops of color...one day.
The Painted Portrait dress is brilliant because of these huge pockets! Dresses with pockets rule and I love that these are a fun design element of the garment. Thanks Anna, for making such an awesome pattern. I'm sure I'll sew up some sleeveless ones for summertime.
because of your first version, I tried this dress and am now teaching it as a class! it's a great pattern!!!
ReplyDeleteI love them all! I made one so far, the sleeveless dress. I took the pattern out this week actually, intending to make another one, thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric on that last version of the pattern. What's it called?
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! InkyStitches - it is a lone Japanese fabric from Yuwa.
ReplyDeleteWhere do I find the pattern?
ReplyDeleteThis is hands-down one of my favorite patterns, too. I made one and embroidered it - a total labor of love! That said, it is probably my favorite of all the garments I have ever made for myself.
ReplyDeleteThese are sooooo gorgeous! I'm just about to sew double gauze for the first time (loose, wide-legged trousers). Have you got any tips? I'm concerned about seams being strong and not straining.
