I've already made two of these cute shirts--I love the Violet pattern so much! My first was made in a My Folklore print by Lecien. The sweet and small floral design and the burnt gold color give this blouse a vintage French feel. Slightly mismatched shell buttons add some unique character.
Once I knew I loved the fit of my first Violet top, I decided to splurge and make one out of a Liberty of London fabric. I've had my eye on this graphic print for a while and the lightweight lawn fabric is perfect for this shirt. Sweet little cream corozo flower buttons lend a feminine touch. I love it!

On a recent trip to Portland I visited the adorable fabric shop, Bolt. I had fun meeting Gina, the sweet shop owner, and spent the afternoon perusing their fabrics and seeing both familiar fabrics and fabrics that I hadn't seen before. I fell head over heels for this Yuwa print in coral, cream and blues--and when I brought it home decided it would make an adorable Violet.
My favorite thing about this button-down is the darling Peter Pan collar. I chose an ivory Kona cotton for the collar and skipped the interfacing--the quilting weight cotton is heavy enough that you don't need it. Seven sweet mother of pearl eyelet buttons finish it off adorably!
This light weight blouse is perfect for a day of croquet in the park!
We are winners!
you both look so great. I love that Liberty print, Jamie. I was eyeing it/coveting it yesterday. And Amber. I love that Yuwa print, and isn't Gina so fantastic?
ReplyDeleteDo you carry Colette patterns in the store? I don't think Violet is for me, but I'm dying for a Beignet pattern. I live in Beijing, China but I will be in Denver in 2 weeks for a month-long stay with my brother and family. Fancy Tiger Crafts is at the top of my list of stores not to miss. Can't wait to see your fabrics and yarns in person! (And maybe take a class?)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzy!
ReplyDeleteYes, Heather - we do carry the full line of Colette patterns in the store so please drop by when you're in town. Can't wait to meet you!
Such beautiful blouses! I love each one. Thanks for the sweet words too...I'm blushing.
ReplyDeleteLe Sigh...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love Jaime's liberty print Violet. Sarai made me a Negroni shirt in that same fabric, which we discovered browsing the Liberty bin at your shop.
ReplyDeleteNice meeting you when Sarai and I were in Denver a couple months back.
Gah, these are absurdly cute! I just picked up some Liberty to make a Violet, but I'm so scared! I've never spent so much per/yd for fabric before and it's paralyzing! Yours are really inspiring, though-- great work!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I am DYING over this. Totally sharing on my blog. Too cute! : )
ReplyDeleteI saw your Violet's on Pinterest and had to come over to tell you how lovely these are! I can't wait for spring.
ReplyDeleteIgnore that apostrophe in Violets. I've had too much coffee!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love to sew clothes and I haven't yet tried out colette patterns. Your blog has made me fall in love with the violet pattern! Yours are by far my favourite so far!!
ReplyDeleteI think i need this pattern!
