We are really excited about fold-over elastic. It's like a bias tape and elastic all in one. Sweet! We just got a box of it in lots of colors and can't wait to make some cute summer tops and dresses. We were inspired to order it after seeing this post on the Angry Chicken blog. She has lots of cute ideas for using FOE.
We also got in some fancy scalloped elastics in cute colors. Super cute!

Craftastic Weekend Project: Fabric Scrap Gift Wrap
Try out this adorable and earth friendly gift wrap next time you have a gift to give. You can recycle scraps from past sewing projects and your friend can re-use the wrapping for a tea towel or a new pocket on their favorite skirt.
You will need a scrap big enough to wrap around your gift. Rather than cut your fabric to size, snip the fabric on grain where you want the cut to be and then rip the fabric. This will keep your line straight and keep the edge from fraying too much. You will also need a ribbon long enough to tie around your gift.
Fold in the the fabric on both of the short sides of your gift. Fold in the other two sides. Tie the ribbon around. Your friend will love it!

Better Know A Crafter: Nikki Kelly
Welcome to Fancy Tiger's first ever installment of Better Know A Crafter, where you get to meet some of the inspiring & crafty Fancy Tiger customers we get to see every day!
Sooo...let me introduce our first crafter:
Nikki Kelly
1) Tell us about the project you've made. What pattern and materials did you use?
I've made a reversible Chick/Egg toy. It was knit in the round, slightly felted and then sewn together. I used 1/2 a skein each of the Cascade 220 in Yellow and Cream, and some scrap orange and black.
2) Tell us something about the person who taught you to knit.
I learned how to knit from a kit my little sister, Amy, bought me for my birthday in the hopes that I would teach her how to knit. She was 7 at the time, and now she is knitting along.
3) What is your favorite animal?
My kitties of course, but other than pets anything that is small and adorable, like awkward baby giraffes.
Nikki's project is a Mochimochi Land pattern, Which Came First, the Chicken or the Egg? Thanks Nikki! Happy crafting!

We are Nerds.
We admit that we are craft nerds. We have discussions about various ancient sheep breeds, what is the best way to make a left-slanting decrease and how to alter almost every sewing pattern we take on. But today we have reached our nerdiest potential with the arrival of "Handknit Heroes" - a comic book about knitting superheros. Its pretty awesome and whether you are a comic book nerd or a craft nerd, I think you will like it. Its the first issue and Fancy Tiger is the only place to get it in Colorado so come on down and nerd out with us.
